UK: Anyone planning to sell their watch to Computer Exchange?

Main Post:

Anyone? I checked their website but I don't think they are buying the Google Pixel Watch yet. How much do you think they're likely to offer if and when they do?

I have a Garmin watch but I only use it to track steps and look at messages. I haven't decided if I want to keep the "free" watch yet.

Where to watch Love Transit/Exchange?

Main Post:

Recently saw Boo Seungkwan from Seventeen talking about the show. So now I’m interested. Does anyone know where I can watch the dating variety show Transit Love/Exchange all the episodes online? A raw version is fine. The best would be with eng subs.

[Armani Exchange] [fashion watch] [what do you think?] thoughts about fashion watches :)

Main Post: [Armani Exchange] [fashion watch] [what do you think?] thoughts about fashion watches :)

An ugly truth of this hobby is that all watches are technically fashion watches. Even "tool watches". If people like the style, and don't really care about what they're getting, more power to them.

I have just created a UK Watch exchange community

Main Post:

Hi all, I have seen a watch exchange community already which is great however it is mainly for the USA. We need one here in the UK I thought, hence creating one. I would appreciate it if we can all support and spread the word in Reddit. It will be beneficial once it gets going. r/UKWatchexchange

[Warning] Scammed by u/theedriplomat on r/watchexchange

Main Post:

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my experience to warn others about u/theedriplomat, who scammed me on January 2nd on r/watchexchange.

I was looking for a watch when he contacted me via chat. He made me an offer and sent pictures that seemed genuine—only later did I discover they were stolen from another user who had sold the same watch. He appeared knowledgeable and trustworthy, and we agreed on a price. After I sent the money, he disappeared.

At the time, he was active in both Kenyan and Nairobi communities, as well as other watch groups, which made me confident in his honesty. In hindsight, I realize I ignored several red flags.

The name he used was Edwin G******z. I was in the middle of a move with a new baby, and I had saved up for months to buy this watch. It’s frustrating and upsetting, but I hope my story helps someone else avoid the same mistake.

Please, always do your research before committing. I’ve seen him active on watch posts again, and I fear he may try to scam someone else.

This is my first post, and I wish it was to share the excitement of getting my grail watch instead. Thanks for reading, and stay safe!

EDIT

I was contacted today by u/theedriplomat, who asked me to take this post down. He claimed it was a one-time thing (sure, ha ha), and even offered to return my money. Clearly, this post is making things difficult for him—which is exactly what a scammer deserves!

That said, be aware that he’s now operating under the name lovedstatesman aside from theedriplomat and has even created a new community to continue scamming people: https://www.reddit.com/r/theedriplomat/ I’ve also noticed he’s quite active on r/AskReddit and r/watches (that he uses to find potential people to scam), so stay vigilant.

Thanks to everyone for helping expose him.

Top Comment: I don’t understand why being active on the Kenyan and Nairobi subs made you think he was trustworthy. Am I missing something here?

Got screwed over during watch exchange

Main Post:

Hey guys. I exchanged my old watch online with a guy and he sent me a different watch than discussed, which doesn't work and has a broken bracelet. During our conversation he sent pictures of several watches for me to choose, but never the one he sent in the end. I chose a watch that matched the price of the watch I had and he sent a package and I sent package.

Lo and behold, it's not the watch we agreed on. I get something called Swiss Supreme, a brand I never heard of before. Does anybody know anything about this brand?

My watch was worth around $200...

Top Comment: So it was relatively inexpensive lesson that you shouldn’t blindly trust anyone online and do risky trades via platforms which aren’t supposed for deals like that

[Question] How can new watches with warranty be sold on reddit watchexchange community for way cheaper than MSRP?

Main Post:

Hi, I’m just trying to learn more about the scene. I see many new, unworn Tudor watches on Watchexchange subreddit or ebay with AD warranty being sold for way cheaper price than MSRP. How is that possible? I understand grey market system, but I don’t understand how new watches with AD warranty can be sold for like $1,000 cheaper than their MSRP.

Top Comment: They aren’t really “new”. Most have warranties that have already been activated.

How does r/WatchExchange work?

Main Post:

I want to buy a Tissot chronometer, but don't know how to do it without any risk of being scammed. They have tons of positive feedback, but it still seems risky to me. They'd want the check first, which would allow them to rip me off, or they could send the watch first, which may cause them to think that I wouldn't send the funds. At least on eBay there's a money back guarantee. Here, there is no such thing. Advice on how to handle a transaction safely without any risk of scamming would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading!

Top Comment:

Paying with PayPal Goods & Services provides a measure of protection against fraud. The seller assumes more of the risk in such a transaction, because you could receive a good watch and claim that it was fake or missing altogether, the seller would probably be liable. Some sellers ask for references in a G&S transaction.

Best place to sell a watch?

Main Post:

I tried on the watchexchange Reddit and it’s super tough for new users to seem reputable enough to sell a watch.

Was going to try the app bezel as they guarantee authenticity but they require you to enter your social security number which I didn’t love.

eBay? Thoughts?

Top Comment: I mean, selling something online is always just kind of a shitshow. eBay's a pretty decent place since it's more of a structured site. eBay will also have higher traffic for your watch, so you'll probably be able to get the highest price on ebay. The only issues with eBay are the absurd amount of buyer protections, meaning that someone can just return an item for no good reason. I used r/watchexchange for a good few years, but i would stay away from it for new sellers. The process of selling and buying is not structured at all, and theres no seller or buyer protection. Plus, the mods of that sub are power-hungry losers who've been known to ban random people for the stupidest reasons. I'm like 99% certain I got banned because I'm also active on r/watchescirclejerk , but the mods will only tell me "you know why."
